Holiday park in Dorset gives contactless check-in for NHS staff

Shorefield Parks is a family-run holiday business with eight parks across southern England. The company closed their holiday parks in Dorset, Hampshire and the New Forest for the coronavirus outbreak.
But, they opened their highly rated Forest Edge Holiday Park in St Leonards, Dorset for NHS staff. This holiday park is close to local hospitals, making it an ideal location to provide key NHS workers convenient accommodation.
At first, Shorefield Parks gave the NHS use of 10 of its luxury holiday caravans for free. NHS staff quickly took them up on their offer.
The quick uptake made it easy for the company to make all its 35 holiday caravans available at Forest Edge to NHS staff. The holiday caravans are near a beauty spot, Hurn Forest.
Holiday park in Dorset makes life safer
The NHS staff have a convenient place to stay when off-duty. And, living there during the pandemic crisis makes it easier to prevent spreading the virus. NHS staff check-in using a contactless system at the reception building.
Shorefield Park’s financial director explained why providing the free accommodation works so well.
“Some of those staying at Forest Edge can now avoid long and tiring journeys to and from their homes, while others cannot stay with their families due to the pandemic.”
One NHS key worker, Lee Stratton, a paramedic with the South Western Ambulance Service, said:
“I had nowhere to go, and Shorefield came forward and gave me somewhere to stay. I cannot thank them enough for their kind-hearted gesture.”
Carer Chloe Frias said:
“This superb free accommodation has meant that I can go to work with peace of mind from knowing that I am doing all I can to protect my family.”
