Truma launches crash sensor specially for Campingaz gas cylinders

Martine van der Klauw

In early 2027, Truma will introduce the MonoControl CS R, a gas pressure regulator with an integrated crash sensor specially developed for Campingaz cylinders R 904 and R 907. This will allow drivers of campervans and compact motorhomes to safely and legally leave their gas cylinder open while driving.

Why is Truma releasing this specific gas pressure regulator?

More and more campervans and compact motorhomes are leaving the factory equipped with diesel heating, such as the Truma Combi Diesel. Because the heater draws its fuel directly from the vehicle’s fuel tank, there is no longer any space or need on board for large 11 kg gas cylinders. In these cases, a compact Campingaz cylinder is sufficient for cooking or powering the refrigerator. Until now, users of these small cylinders had to make do without Truma’s safety technology.

Product Manager Thermosystems & Gas Craig Hawthorne explains that with the new MonoControl CS R, this group of campers will now enjoy the same convenience and level of safety as owners of traditional gas systems. This means the hassle of opening and closing the cylinder in often hard-to-reach gas lockers is now a thing of the past.

How does the safety system of the MonoControl CS R work?

The most important component of the pressure regulator is the integrated crash sensor. In the event of a collision or a sudden, severe impact, the sensor cuts off the gas supply to the piping network within a fraction of a second. This prevents gas from flowing unnoticed into the vehicle’s living area in the event of an accident. As a result, the system meets all legal requirements to keep connected appliances, such as the refrigerator or the stove, switched on while driving.

Should the sensor happen to trigger unintentionally due to a deep pothole, this is immediately visible via a yellow button that pops out. With a simple press of this reset button, the system is ready for use again within a few seconds.

When will the Truma MonoControl CS R be available?

The Truma MonoControl CS R will be available from specialist retailers starting in early 2027. It can be screwed directly onto the Campingaz cylinder, and no tools are required when changing the gas cylinder. A recommended retail price has not yet been announced by the manufacturer.
