Sleep, work and adventure with the SpaceCamper Bike

Jos Mark

Does your creativity flow in the great outdoors? Is there nowhere you sleep better than under the trees? And do you like to move? Then the SpaceCamper Bike might be something for you. This electric cargo bike with tent is ideal for camping overnight stays and you can even use it as a mobile office.

For this flexible camping vehicle, SpaceCamper collaborates with Riese & Müller, a German company that has been producing electric bicycles for decades. The Load4 75 is the basis of the SpaceCamper Bike. This electric cargo bike has a Bosch Cargo Line motor and a frame that consists of approximately 35 percent recycled aluminum.

Cercle

This camper bike reminds us a bit of the Cercle, which Austrian Bernhard Sobotta developed. We spoke to him a few years ago. You can read that interview below.

Camping gear for owners Load4 75

For campers who already have a Ries & Müller Load4 75, the superstructure is available separately. The basic equipment for this consists of a multifunctional lounger that is 1.95 meters long and 56 centimeters wide. You can sit on this chair or – fully unfolded – sleep. Furthermore, the basic package comes with a storage box, and a cover for the chair and the box. In total, this equipment costs 1950 euros.

To really make it a camping tool, the SpaceCamper Bike can be expanded with a tent that you pull over the bike (+ 444 euros), a sleeping mat (+ 146 euros) and a table that also functions as a lid and where you can work with your laptop, for example (+ 150 euros). If you choose all these options on top of the basic package, you end up with a price of 2,690 euros, just for the camping set.

Don't have an electric cargo bike yet?

If you don’t have a Load4 75 in your shed, you can buy the SpaceCamper Bike in its entirety. Expect a starting price of 9,548 euros including assembly. This price only includes the basic equipment. If you opt for the tent, sleeping mat and table, you end up with a total price of 10,290 euros. But hey, then you can go to places you can’t get to by car.

SpaceCamper Bike options

The SpaceCamper Bike can be expanded in many ways. For example, think of an ingenious bike computer, an extra battery that allows you to cycle further, all-terrain tires from Schwalbe, an anti-lock braking system or an extra lock.
