A spacious bathroom, comfortable French bed, large kitchen, and a cosy U-shaped lounge. The Kabe Royal 600 TDL is an ideal caravan for campers who do not want to compromise on comfort while on the road. Yet this 8.20-metre-long travel palace sits on just a single axle. Time to get to know this Swedish beauty.
At Kabe, the letters TDL refer to the caravan’s layout. In these models, you have a spacious U-shaped lounge at the front, while the toilet and separate shower cubicle are located at the very rear, spanning the full width of the caravan.
This results in a surprisingly spacious bathroom. The toilet is on the left, a vanity unit with plenty of cupboard space is in the middle, and next to it you will find a separate shower cubicle. The bathroom is also equipped with a heated towel rail. Pleasant after a shower, but also handy for damp clothes or towels after a day at the beach or in the snow.
The beds are located directly in front of the bathroom. If you choose the E5 layout, you get a French bed measuring 1.96 metres long and up to 1.40 metres wide. Due to the angled corner at the foot of the bed, there is plenty of room to walk past to reach the bathroom.
The Kabe Royal 600 TDL is also available with two single beds. That is the E2 layout. Families can opt for the E9, with a double bed and a bunk bed.
Back to the Royal 600 TDL, the smallest TDL model from the Swedish manufacturer. The caravan is available with a standard internal width of 2.15 metres, but you can also choose a king-size variant. This is twenty centimetres wider.
Twenty centimetres might not seem like much on paper, but in a caravan, it makes a huge difference. You notice it when cooking, when someone walks past the bed, and when several people sit around the seating group. The extra width gives the interior an open and almost homely feel.
With an internal length of 6 metres and a headroom of 1.96 metres, there is also plenty of room to move around in the rest of the caravan. In total, the king-size version offers no less than 14.1 square metres of living space.
At the front, we see a spacious U-shaped lounge. This is the place to eat together, make plans for the next holiday day, or play a game in the evening. The wide front window and surrounding windows provide plenty of natural light.
The seating group can be converted into an extra bed. In the king-size version, this creates a bed 2.25 metres long and up to 1.66 metres wide. (Grand)children or any overnight guests do not have to sleep in a tent next to the caravan.
Various light points are fitted above and around the seating group. The ceiling lighting, light strip, and ambient lighting can be dimmed individually.
In the middle of the caravan is a spacious L-shaped kitchen. Cooking in a caravan often requires quite a bit of creativity due to the limited space, but in this kitchen, you can cook to your heart’s content. The extra corner provides plenty of storage space and a large worktop. Even if you put a coffee maker, air fryer, or citrus press on it, there is still plenty of room for chopping and setting down plates or pans.
The Royal is equipped with a comprehensive cooker with four cooking zones, one of which is electric. This means you do not have to limit yourself to a simple one-pot meal on holiday. The kitchen drawers close softly and offer plenty of space for pans, crockery, and supplies. Thanks to the large fridge (167 litres) and the 29-litre freezer compartment, you do not have to visit the supermarket every day. The matte black fridge door and light concrete look of the worktop also give the kitchen a modern appearance.
Also, practical details have been thought of. Think of the extractor hood, the illuminated splashback, a waste bin with waste separation, and plenty of power sockets.
The smooth exterior cladding, distinctive red Kabe stripe, and alloy wheels give the caravan a luxurious appearance. A dimmable LED strip across the full length provides lighting for the awning in the evening.
The Seitz exterior door has a window and an integrated flyscreen door. The front locker is equipped with lighting and a protective floor mat.
For safety, the caravan sits on a fully galvanised ALKO chassis with self-adjusting brakes. The electronic ATC system intervenes if the caravan starts to sway while driving.
Naturally, a caravan of this size and specification is no lightweight. The Kabe Royal 600 TDL with standard width has a weight in running order of 1,724 kilograms and a maximum permissible weight of 2,000 kilograms. On paper, this leaves 276 kilograms of payload. If you opt for extras such as a mover, air conditioning, or an electric entry step, those kilograms will be deducted from the available payload.
Despite its length and weight, the Royal 600 TDL remains a single-axle caravan. This makes it somewhat more compact and flexible when manoeuvring and storing compared to a twin-axle caravan.
The Kabe Royal 600 TDL is available from 69,280 euros. So, this Swedish caravan is not cheap. On the other hand, the standard equipment is remarkably generous, and it is suitable for year-round use. This makes the Royal 600 TDL a caravan in which you do not just celebrate holidays, but can truly live in comfort.
