Cubivan transforms passenger van into camper

Marije Onderwaater

Camping in a passenger van? It's possible with the Cubivan Camping System from Vanna Camp, which is currently still a concept. Thanks to fold-out and slide-out modules, it creates a camper van complete with a kitchen, shower, toilet, and a large double bed.

What is Cubivan?

Cubivan is the brainchild of Florian Haller, owner of Vanna Camp from South Tyrol, Italy. He now wants to use his more than 20 years of experience in the automotive supply industry for campers by developing a brand-new camper concept. With Cubivan, Haller combines as many functions as possible – including a toilet and shower – in a small space, without wanting to compromise on comfort and aesthetics.

How does the rear module work?

The Cubivan Camping System works with modules made of fiber-reinforced plastic with polyurethane insulation that slide out and then fold open. This happens at the rear of the van, for example. When the module slides out and unfolds all the way down, it creates a compact, sheltered kitchen with a hob, a sink, and a 25-liter fresh water tank. Next to it is a small refrigerator.

Toilet and shower

A slide-out toilet is also hidden inside the kitchen unit. You can even take a shower in this module. The kitchen unit is then temporarily moved to another spot in the van.

And where do you sleep?

A van only becomes a camper when there is a bed in it. The Cubivan Camping System doesn’t have a pop-top roof or a roof tent, but instead another module that folds open. This contains a 200 x 200 cm double bed, which is remarkably large for a roof bed.

Which passenger vans are suitable for the Cubivan?

The Cubivan will soon be available for the Ford Tourneo Custom, the Mercedes Vito, the VW ID. Buzz, and the VW Caravelle. When the rear module is not in use, you can easily remove it to use the van for everyday life.

Can I buy the Cubivan yet?

The Cubivan is not yet for sale. However, it is possible to reserve the system until 31 December 2026. When the Cubivan Camping System actually launches – expected in the early summer of 2027 – you will receive priority and a 1,000 euro discount upon purchase. How that works, along with more information, can be found on the website via the button below.
