70 years of LMC: discover the Formula 1-based anniversary fleet

Are you hoping that the new (camper)vans will look like a Formula 1 car and imagining yourself driving around Europe like Max Verstappen? Then we have to disappoint you. The anniversary fleet celebrating 70 years of LMC references motorsport in a different way. In 1950, around the same time as LMC, Formula 1 was born, and over the following years, car bodies became more streamlined, suspension and tires were improved, and circuits became safer. A hallmark of race cars was always the large, usually round stickers with starting numbers on the hood and sides. These retro stickers are featured on LMC’s anniversary models.

Innovation meets nostalgia

The choice to use motorsport as a theme for the anniversary models is no coincidence. “LMC sees itself as a strong team that constantly evolves while maintaining the same focus. Just like in a pit stop where every second counts, the LMC team strives for continuous performance optimization by improving internal processes and refining products,” according to the press release from the German manufacturer. In short, just as race cars are continuously improved to deliver maximum performance, LMC keeps innovating and optimizing.

For the anniversary fleet, LMC has curated a selection of (camper)vans and caravans.

70 years of LMC: caravans Style 450 D and 490 K

The Style 450 D and 490 K have been selected by the German manufacturer as the anniversary caravans. The LMC Style received a facelift in 2023, featuring furniture in a light oak color combined with sage green, and accents of grey and white. The floor is covered with PVC in a concrete look, and the handles are chrome. In the kitchen, the standout feature is the tall refrigerator, and in the bathroom, the recessed sink.

The anniversary models are also equipped with various comfort features. Notable are the black alloy wheels and illuminated trim lines. The interior is available not only in the typical sage green but also in light grey. The premium vegan leather upholstery is adorned with an anniversary embroidery.

Additionally, the anniversary caravans come standard with an insect-repellent door and awning light, Truma Therme, 12V air circulation, roof reinforcement for air conditioning, and the maximum load for the 450D has been increased to 1800 kg, while for the 490 K, it is 1700 kg. Moreover, a mobile 25-liter waste water tank ensures easy handling during travel.

A number of motorhomes are also joining in the celebration of LMC’s anniversary. These include the Tourer T 660 G, Tourer H 660 G, Cruiser Van V646 G, and Innovan 600. How the German manufacturer incorporates the anniversary into these models will be covered next week on Campingtrend.
