The camper van is back in the Kosmo series from Laika. This coming January, the Italian brand will present two new models at the CMT in Stuttgart: the Laika Kosmo 50 and the Kosmo 60.
The Laika Kosmo camper van is not new. The 6.1, 6.2, 6.3 and 6.4 were already in the showroom. However, the Kosmo series did not have a camper van in the past and the Ecovip was the only series with a camper van. This is now changing with the Laika Kosmo 50 (5.41 metres) and Kosmo 60 (5.99 metres). Both camper vans have the Fiat Ducato with 140 hp engine as the base vehicle.
Brothers Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro from the prestigious car design company GFG Style have once again focused on the design, just as they did with the Kosmo integrated and semi-integrated. This means that the looks of the two new Kosmos are the same as those of their big brothers. White is the standard exterior colour, combined with Kosmo graphics in the matt black colour Nero Matt. The exterior is also optionally available in metallic grey or black, Expedition grey or Lanzarote grey. Space dog Laika, after whom the brand is named, has been given a prominent place on the side. The mirrors, like the other Kosmo’s, are provided with an Italian flag. After all, Laika has its home base in Tuscany.
The interior of the Laika Kosmo 50 and Kosmo 60 is pleasantly light, thanks to the many windows all around and the panoramic window above the dinette. A skyview above the cabin is optional. The table top, the counter and the sink are made of Fenix, a material that is self-healing, which means that small scratches can disappear again. It is also not very sensitive to fingerprints. The new Kosmo camper vans have the same interior colours as the other campers in this series: Stone Grey & Forest Green, a mix of grey tones and green. Other colours are on the options list.
The Laika Kosmo camper vans are suitable for year-round use. The good insulation ensures that it is also comfortable in winter. The camper vans are equipped as standard with a Truma Combi 4 heating system, which can be operated via the digital Truma CP plus panel.
Both camper vans have a table with a pull-out top in the dinette. A conversion for a single bed is available at an additional cost. The Laika Kosmo 50 and Kosmo 60 are virtually identical in terms of layout, although the difference in length of 58 centimetres naturally means that you have to make different choices.
Kitchen
The kitchen in the Kosmo 50 has a refrigerator on the end of the kitchen unit. This refrigerator can also be reached from outside. In the Kosmo 60, the refrigerator is located to the right of the kitchen. The camper vans each have two gas burners and a square sink, each with its own glass cover plate.
Bathroom
The Kosmo 50 has a compact combination bathroom with a toilet, washbasin and a shower that can also be used outside through the window. The Kosmo 60 has a vario bathroom with a rotating washbasin wall.
Beds
The camper vans are both equipped with a transverse bed for two people, surrounded by overhead cabinets. In the Kosmo 50 the bed is 1.96 x 1.32/1.20 meters. The bed in the Kosmo 60 has a size of 1.96 x 1.50/1.38 meters. A pop-up roof with two extra sleeping places is optional in both campers.
The official presentation of the Laika Kosmo camper vans will take place at the CMT in Stuttgart, from 18 to 26 January 2025.
The prices of these compact Laikas are already known. The Kosmo 50 is available from 78,051 euros and the Kosmo 60 has a starting price of 79,571 euros.
