American manufacturer Aliner is introducing the Scout 15 for the 2027 model year, a folding caravan with solid walls. It has an unladen weight of 881 kg and a setup time of less than thirty seconds. This makes the model particularly suitable for campers looking for flexibility without being dependent on a heavy towing vehicle.
The Scout 15 looks very similar to a trailer tent, but the tent canvas has been replaced by folding walls made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic. When folded down, the caravan is 1.68 metres high, which results in less aerodynamic drag behind the car. This also allows the caravan to be stored in a standard garage. Once set up, it offers a maximum headroom of 2.54 metres.
To keep the weight low (881 kg), Aliner leaves out fixed sanitary and cooking facilities in the base version. There is no built-in hob, fresh water tank, or cassette toilet on board. However, the Scout 15 is equipped with a sink and a 48-litre refrigerator. The sleeping berths accommodate three to four people, split between a convertible seating group at the front (1.01 x 2.03 metres) and a fixed double bed at the rear (1.52 x 2.03 metres).
Those who prefer heading off the beaten track can order the Scout 15 with an optional off-road package. The caravan then features a raised chassis and 15-inch all-terrain tyres on alloy wheels. Furthermore, so-called dormers (roof extensions with hard or soft walls for extra living space), solar panels, and air conditioning with a heat pump are available as factory options.
Aliner is an American brand, and as of yet, there is no importer in the Netherlands. However, you can certainly buy an Aliner in Europe, as there is an official dealer for the Benelux and Germany: Camp Impuls in Karlsruhe, Germany.
