“Invisible” Teleco Ultra Comfort 9000M air conditioner keeps Mercedes cool

The new Teleco Ultra Comfort 9000M has been specially developed for motorhomes based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. The compressor of this air conditioning system is installed under the bonnet, leaving the roof free for features such as a skylight or solar panels. Teleco is showcasing this 'invisible' air conditioner for the first time at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf.

How was the Teleco Ultra Comfort 9000M developed?

Developing this Mercedes Sprinter air conditioner required a custom approach. Simply adapting the existing air conditioners for Stellantis chassis, including Fiat, Citroën, Peugeot, and Opel, was not enough. That is why the Teleco Ultra Comfort 9000M has been developed completely from scratch. There is an MS variant for front-wheel-drive motorhomes and an MV variant for rear-wheel-drive motorhomes.

Does this new air conditioner fit all Mercedes-chassis motorhomes?

The MS and MV variants are suitable for semi-integrated motorhomes and campervans (with or without a pop-top roof) with a length of 6 to 7.50 metres. However, the vehicle must have an automatic transmission. This means the system is not compatible with manual gearboxes.

How does the Teleco Ultra Comfort 9000M work in the Mercedes Sprinter?

The Teleco Ultra Comfort 9000M differs from a traditional rooftop air conditioner. The compressor is housed under the bonnet, while the indoor unit is integrated into the dashboard. The cold air flows evenly through the cabin and living space via the indoor unit, meaning the driver and other occupants are not bothered by cold drafts. The air conditioner features three fan speeds, an automatic mode, and adjustable air vents. It is operated via the remote control with display, which Teleco includes as standard. It is also possible to control the system via an app, which requires a connection to the WLT24EX2 or WLT58EX on-board routers.

Can the Teleco Ultra Comfort 9000M cool and heat?

The air conditioner has a cooling capacity of 7,900 BTU/h (2,310 W). Thanks to the built-in heat pump, the system can also heat the motorhome with a capacity of up to 7,560 BTU/h.

Is this Teleco air conditioner suitable for off-grid camping?

The Ultra Comfort 9000M is suitable for campers who stay away from hook-ups for extended periods. For this, Teleco recommends the optional TI 2000 SI-ACT inverter (pure sine wave) and a LiFePO4 battery pack of at least 100 Ah.

What does the optional Steril Air Pro system do?

The Steril Air Pro system is available for the Ultra Comfort 9000M. This system continuously purifies and refreshes the air, and is designed to target odours, viruses, bacteria, allergens, and harmful substances in the indoor air.

What are the advantages of the Teleco Ultra Comfort 9000M?

Because the compressor is located in the engine compartment, it is less susceptible to vibrations, making the system extremely quiet. The compressor is also less exposed to the elements in this location. And because the roof remains free, there is plenty of space for a solar panel or an extra roof light. In addition, the Teleco Ultra Comfort 9000M is up to 5 kg lighter than traditional rooftop air conditioners.

Our first impression of the Teleco Ultra Comfort 9000M

Jos attended the premiere of the ‘invisible’ Teleco air conditioning system at the Caravan Salon. “While this new air conditioner might not be suitable for every Mercedes motorhome, it is a great development for the vehicles it does fit. Due to the completely different layout of the Mercedes dashboard, the 9000M is truly different from the Ultra Comfort 6000 for Stellantis vehicles. Furthermore, this 9000M is ideal for campers who like to stay off-grid. Since the air conditioning system takes up no roof space, there is plenty of room for extra solar panels.”
