Roof Space introduces rooftop tent lift for mounting and storage
Want to mount a rooftop tent on your car by yourself? It's now possible with the new Roof Space universal rooftop tent lift. The system is also suitable for storing a rooftop tent when it's not in use. We checked out this rooftop tent lift at the Caravan Salon 2026.
Why a rooftop tent lift?
The Roof Space rooftop tent lift makes it possible to mount a rooftop tent on a car on your own—normally a job for two people. With this new system, Roof Space offers a solution for campers who don’t want to drive around with their rooftop tent on the car all year round. A first of its kind, according to the German brand.
How does the Roof Space rooftop tent lift work?
The system works using a manual crank and integrated gas struts. You place the rooftop tent on the lift and roll the system to the car. This is easy to do, as it is equipped with wheels. Using the crank, you raise the rooftop tent to roof height. You then slide it over the roof racks and secure it according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Which rooftop tents is this lift system suitable for?
The Roof Space rooftop tent lift fits almost all rooftop tents, both softcover and hardcover. The lift has a maximum load capacity of 100 kg – so the rooftop tent must not weigh more than this – and a maximum height of 230 cm.
How does the Roof Space rooftop tent lift work for storage?
Not going camping for a while? Then you can use the lift to remove the rooftop tent from the car and store it at the same time. You tilt the lift upright into the storage position and roll the system to a spot in the garage. The Roof Space universal rooftop tent lift takes up relatively little space in its storage position. Its dimensions are: 160 cm high, 105 cm long, and 55 cm wide.

At the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, we took a closer look at this universal rooftop tent lift. We are highly impressed by this ingenious 2-in-1 solution: mounting and storage. We also noticed plenty of interest from show visitors. In Düsseldorf, Roof Space advertised an early-bird price of 699 euros. The system is now on sale for 899 euros. This makes the rooftop tent lift particularly attractive to campers who regularly remove their rooftop tent from the car and have the space to store both the tent and the lift system.
Price and delivery
Roof Space will deliver the rooftop tent lift from March 2027 for 899 euros. Ordering is already possible, including through Dutch dealers of the brand.
