The new Dovra RIG X-710 4WD camper van features a massive battery pack and solar panels, allowing campers to stay off-grid for long periods. Its payload capacity is also highly impressive.
Off-road and off-grid, adventure and quality – those are the key concepts behind the Swedish Dovra camper vans. The founders couldn’t find a camper van to their liking anywhere, so they built one themselves, using the Mercedes Sprinter as the base vehicle. Naturally, Dovras are fully equipped for a cold winter holiday in their home country, much like the vehicles from Kabe.
Until now, Dovra’s line-up consisted of the RIG X-610 and the RIG X-750. Now, a mid-sized model joins the family: the RIG X-710. Measuring 7.10 metres in length, this newcomer sits perfectly between the existing X-610 and X-750.
The RIG X-710 is a premium camper van designed for long journeys far from civilisation. It is built on a Mercedes Sprinter 4×4 base with a 190 hp turbodiesel engine and a nine-speed automatic transmission.
“From day one, our ambition has been to build adventure vehicles without compromise,” says Johan Särefors, co-founder and product manager at Dovra. “With the RIG X-710, we have created a completely new concept that combines true off-road capabilities, long beds, and an exceptional payload in a single vehicle. We believe this is the most versatile Dovra we have ever built.”
The Dovra RIG X-710 is fully equipped for wild camping without sacrificing comfort. All 2027 models – including this newcomer – come standard with an extremely powerful 1,000 Ah Victron lithium battery pack, combined with a Victron 3000W inverter and an MPPT solar charger. This makes it possible to run heavy appliances for long periods without mains power. Spending extended periods off-grid is therefore no problem at all.
Campers can also opt for a completely gas-free version. In this case, you cook on an induction hob – which is also standard for the new model year – and the diesel tank provides heating and hot water.
In the bathroom, Dovra uses the waterless Clesana C1 toilet, which hygienically seals waste in foil bags. The camper features a 105-litre fresh water tank and a 95-litre waste water tank.
In the RIG X-710, you can pack a lot. The payload capacity is an impressive 1,220 kg.
As standard, the camper van is equipped with the Alde 3030 Plus. The Alde 4000 D Plus is available on the options list.
The appearance of the RIG X-710 is highly impressive, as we witnessed ourselves at the Caravan Salon 2026. Just like the other Dovra models, this is an incredibly rugged camper that radiates the confidence to embark on any journey. This robust look is thanks to the anthracite colour scheme, the Vision X LED light bar, the roof rack, the ladder, the rear storage box, and the black 16-inch steel Mercedes wheels with Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tyres. A Thule awning with integrated LED lighting completes the exterior equipment.
The interior features a dinette bench with ergonomic cushions and comfortable swivel captain’s chairs. In terms of colour, there is a choice of leather upholstery in grey or cognac. The straight kitchen unit with an aluminium worktop is remarkably long at 162 cm, offers plenty of storage space, and comes equipped with an induction hob, among other features. The refrigerator opposite has a capacity of 157 litres. The combination bathroom on the driver’s side is fully equipped and features the aforementioned Clesana toilet.
The bed in this latest Dovra camper van is really wonderfully long and wide: 200 x 165 cm. This means you can sleep fully stretched out. Plenty of storage space can be found under the bed.
The Swedish Dovra RIG X-710 has a starting price of 273,700 euros in Germany.
