The Westfalia Sven Hedin is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary. To mark the occasion, the German motorhome manufacturer is launching the ‘Sven Hedin 50 Years Anniversary Edition’ on a MAN TGE chassis. This exclusive model combines retro details with modern technology. The manufacturer will present it to the general public at the Caravan Salon 2026 in Düsseldorf.
Westfalia introduced the first Sven Hedin – a tribute to the Swedish explorer of the same name – in 1976. Since then, the model has grown into a household name among camper van enthusiasts. Clever use of space, freedom on the road, and a high-quality finish have been the key ingredients for fifty years.
The anniversary edition is based on the current Sven Hedin Premium. Westfalia has given the motorhome a number of striking details that reference the first generations, without losing sight of modern comfort.
The ‘Sven Hedin 50 Years Anniversary Edition’ is available in the body colours Light Ivory, Pure Grey, and Grey White. Special anniversary graphics make it immediately clear that this is a special edition.
The interior of the anniversary model also has its own unique look. Westfalia combines retro upholstery with premium fabrics and real leather. This gives the interior a nod to the past, while matching the comfort and finish of a modern camper van.
Westfalia equips the Anniversary Edition comprehensively as standard. The camper van comes with the brand’s Premium Package and Multimedia Package. Westfalia Connect is also part of the standard equipment.
For campers who like to head off-grid, the two 100 Ah lithium batteries and the 120-watt solar panel are particularly interesting. This provides the camper van with a substantial power supply as standard.
For those with additional requirements, the anniversary camper can be customized further. The options list includes a 3,000-watt inverter and an upgrade of the battery capacity to 300 Ah.
In addition, 18-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres are available. A pop-top roof in the body colour and roof-mounted air conditioning are also among the possibilities.
The Westfalia ‘Sven Hedin 50 Years Anniversary Edition’ will celebrate its world premiere at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf. The trade fair takes place from August 28 to September 6, 2026. Westfalia has not yet announced a price or production numbers. Furthermore, the manufacturer will also present the new Columbus Liner to the general public at the camping trade show in Germany. Visitors can view the motorhomes in Hall 4 at Stand B01. Price from 99,990 euros (excl. BPM).
