Is Campernet 2.0 Pro the best router for internet on the go?

Martine van der Klauw

Following the news, buying museum tickets, watching a movie, or looking for tips on local attractions—internet is essential for many people even while on vacation. Are you looking for a reliable and affordable internet solution for your camper or caravan? The powerful Campernet 2.0 Pro router might be just what you need.

Campernet 2.0 Pro was developed by the German company Antretter & Huber, which has over twenty years of experience in developing antennas for the automotive industry. Jos discovered Campernet two years ago, and now there is an updated version, the 2.0.

According to the German company, setting up the internet router is child’s play. The router is equipped with six antenna connections, each marked with its own color, making it easy to connect the right cable. On the other side, there are UTP ports that allow for both wired LAN and wireless WLAN connections.

To make choosing the right mobile phone plan easier, Campernet comes with two SIM card slots. This allows you to easily switch between two providers, such as your Dutch provider and one from the country you’re currently in.

Campernet 2.0 Pro comes with a 4×4 MiMo antenna, which includes both 4G and 5G antennas as well as two Wi-Fi antennas.

Connecting to the internet

Connecting everything is indeed simple. Once connected, you connect to the available Campernet Wi-Fi, open the web app via the browser, and log in using the password printed on the router.

In the app, you can see the status of the router (whether it’s connected or not) and which connection the router is using, such as Wi-Fi, SIM card 1, or SIM card 2. You can also enable a switch that allows the router to automatically choose the best connection.

This is what Jos thinks of the Campernet 2.0 Pro

The router costs 999 euros, which is average. However, with that little thousand, you’re not done yet, as there’s also an antenna costing 269 euros. Still, when you add it all up, it’s still well below the price of an automatic satellite dish. There’s also a 4G version available, the Campernet 2.0 EVO, which, including the antenna, costs about 800 euros. To revisit the headline of this article: Is the Campernet 2.0 Pro the best router for internet on the go? Jos’ conclusion: “It’s a very useful internet solution for on-the-go that is easy to use. Therefore, this router for internet in the caravan or camper is, in my opinion, the best product currently available.”
