Happy New Year! Today is January 1st and so it is time for a list of good intentions where everyone can choose one or more. This is namely a list of possible good intentions for campers.
Is France beckoning again? Can’t wait to eat pizza and ice cream in Italy like every year? Do you prefer to stay in your own country again? Or has your car been automatically driving to Scandinavia for years? Then seize 2025 as an opportunity to choose a new, and perhaps surprising, camping destination. What do you think of Albania, England or the German island of Sylt? And a new camping destination can also be a completely different region than where you normally go. Need some inspiration? Below you will find all the tourist destinations that we have recently discussed on Campingtrend.
Are you a true fair-weather camper? That makes sense, because camping in the sun is wonderful. But enjoying the outdoors is also nice in spring, fall and even winter. Why not try setting up your camping gear somewhere in every season of 2025? If you don’t like it, at least you gave it a try.
Do you want to camp outside your comfort zone? Sometimes you can do this by choosing a completely different type of campsite than where you normally stay. Do you prefer a large campsite with all the facilities? Then it is quite nice to experience what it is like on a much smaller campsite. See it as an experiment for a broader camping perspective. Do you know other campers who always stay on a different type of campsite than you? Then do a campsite swap and try out each other’s favorite campsite.
A nice resolution for lovers of the good life: use your camping cooking facilities to cook extensively. Those one-pot meals, BBQs and salads with French bread are delicious, but why not really put your gas stove to work. For example, choose a three-course meal. And really, you can also use the BBQ for that. Pour a nice drink, set the camping table nicely and… enjoy!
Recently you read in an article on Campingtrend how much fun it is to keep a holiday diary. In this list of good intentions for campers, this tip fits perfectly. Choose a nice book that you like to write in. Make drawings, stick photos and cards in it and you have a tangible memory of a (hopefully) nice holiday.
We campers love it: being outside all day. How nice is it if you know more about the nature you are staying in while camping? For example, follow the free course of the Bird Protection Society, which teaches you to recognize birds – and their sounds – in the Netherlands. Would you rather know more about butterflies? Then take a look at this explanation of the Butterfly Foundation. On the website of Natuurmonumenten you can also find all kinds of tips to recognize trees, plants and animals.
Do something new during your camping holiday. It can be as simple as throwing your chair back and looking up at the starry sky (if you never do that). What can you see above the campsite? Do you like to read in your lazy chair and is it time to do something new and active in 2025? Then go kayaking, mountain biking or hiking. Are you a sporty camper who rarely sits still? Then your new activity might be to sit back and read a book.
Grab your agenda and set a date for a camping trip with family or friends. Have they never been camping before? Think along: maybe you have a tent lying around? Or maybe they can rent camping equipment? Make it a fun time together, with good conversations, games and perhaps a campfire.
Number 9 may well appear on more lists than just this one of good intentions for campers. Because how nice is it to be offline for a while? Even if it is only for a few hours or a day. Enjoy the freedom you have on holiday and that becomes even greater without your phone, tablet or laptop. Do you have a family? Then make good agreements with each other about the time that you are all offline.
Of course, if you only have peace when your camping gear is spick and span or when you have visited all the sights in the area, then you should definitely give in to that. But how nice is it to really enjoy a carefree holiday? Try to throw all the musts overboard at the campsite and just relax completely. We bet that your holiday will be even better then?
Do you have any special camping plans for 2025, no matter how big or small? Or do you have tips – this list is far from complete – that you think should be included in this list of good intentions for campers? Let us know on Facebook.
